Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Review

Cold, creamy desserts like ice cream (or a dairy-free alternative like this one) are summer staples. I recently tried Trader Joe’s Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert in chocolate and strawberry to see what they were all about. Here’s the breakdown:Chocolate

Likes: Smooth and creamy texture, tastes true to the chocolate flavor

Dislike(s): Could be a tad bit sweeter

Overall verdict: I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate ice cream in general, but I can still acknowledge this dairy-free dessert is great quality! If you love a deep, fudge-y taste, then this is for you. I rate this a 4 out of 5 forks*

Likes: Really tasted like the actual fruit, nice creamy consistency

Dislike(s): Bit of an after taste reminiscent of artificial sugar like Splenda

Overall verdict: This dessert was more like a sherbet than anything. It has a nice balance between sweet and tangy, just like a real strawberry. I rate this a 4.5 out of 5 forks*

So, is it worth trying?

Yes! Definitely yes! I’ve tried a few kinds of vegan ice “cream,” each one varies in taste and texture. Some brands can’t seem to get it right, so I was pleasantly surprised when trying these flavors from Trader Joe’s. Truthfully, I wasn’t blown away by the taste of these flavors but they are yummy. If I’m ever craving vegan ice “cream,” I now know I can go to Trader Joe’s and get one or two flavors that are good. Strawberry is my favorite, but I recommend trying these two flavors together! They complement each other well.
